AWS re:Invent gone wild

AWS went all in on AI

AWS (Amazon Web Services) kicked off its developer conference on Monday, called re:Invent. New AWS products and technologies were announced, and, well, it was a lot. I'm putting this in layman's terms—so engineers on this list, don’t come at me.

AWS announced a partnership with Anthropic/Claude, similar to Microsoft's partnership with OpenAI. They also revealed new AI foundation models for generating media, AI microchips, and supercomputers (which are extra super).

What does this mean for people who aren't engineers developing applications? More than 30% of the software applications in the world are "hosted" on AWS. That means the apps we use every day will have smarter, more affordable, and faster AI. Expect improved AI-generated videos and images, as well improved reasoning capabilities.
